Almost every kitchen we open in Canada Water has the same thing in it: one integrated single oven, fitted by the developer, sitting in a column unit with a microwave above it. The Founding set the pattern, 35 storeys and 186 flats on the dockside, and the British Land masterplan behind it has outline permission for up to 4,184 homes across 53 acres and sixteen new streets. So the answer to what it costs is usually £77, and it is usually ninety minutes.
The permit problem in the new blocks
Canada Water sits in Southwark's zone S, Rotherhithe and Surrey Docks, controlled 8.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday. The catch is that permits are not issued to addresses covered by a planning agreement restricting them, and most of the new towers here were consented as car-free, so the resident who books us often has no visitor permit to hand over. Loading on a double yellow is capped at 40 minutes in one spot, which is less than half an oven clean, so we do not use it. What actually works is the block's own bay or the loading area under it, arranged with the concierge. Ask them before you book us.

What gets added to the oven here
Induction is standard in the towers, and an induction hob clean at £23–28 is the add-on people ask for most, usually after something boiled over and baked on. The extractors are the other one. Many of these flats recirculate through a carbon filter rather than venting outside, which means the grease stays in the filter and the filter is easy to forget for two years. The integrated microwave is £22 if you want it done at the same time.
Do you clean rented flats for a checkout?
A lot of what we do around Surrey Quays is exactly that. You get a dated invoice for the inventory clerk, and the oven is heat-tested before we sign it off.
Will the smell get into the flat?
No. The caustic stays in the tank outside. Indoors we use non-caustic products, which matters more in an open-plan flat where the kitchen is the living room.
Do you take the oven out of the column?
Only if it slides out safely. Most integrated units stay in place, the door is split where the design allows, and the racks and side runners go down to the van.
