The Regent's Canal forms the northern edge of Cambridge Heath, and the old warehouses that back straight onto it, along with the row of three-storey Victorian workshops on Wadeson Street, have mostly been turned into flats. Those conversions and the newer canal-side blocks nearly all carry a single integrated oven, so the £77 single is the job we do most on this side of E2. Brownall House on Cambridge Heath Road, the old London Electricity Board building, was rebuilt as student accommodation with more than five hundred bedrooms, and the flats around Vyner Street and the galleries turn over fast on short lets. That means a steady run of end-of-tenancy oven cleans here, where the oven has to pass a check-out inventory.
The dip tank takes the burnt-on layer off the racks so it reads as clean, not just wiped.
What the visit involves
The racks, shelves, trays and side runners lift out and soak in a heated tank in the van. Indoors the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand with non-caustic products, so a small canal-side flat is not left smelling of oven cleaner. Where the door design allows, we split it and clean the inner glass, then heat-test the oven and sign it off. A single is about ninety minutes.
Parking by the canal

Some of the warehouse conversions back onto the water with no road access on the canal side, so we park on the street frontage and carry the parts in.
