Bushy Park is 445 hectares, about 1,100 acres, which makes it the second largest of the Royal Parks after Richmond, and it sits directly north of Hampton Court Palace with red and fallow deer grazing loose across it. Nobody lives in it. So a Bushy Park booking is really a booking on the ring of houses at its gates, in Teddington, Hampton Hill, Hampton and Hampton Wick.
Where the addresses actually are
The gates tell you the streets. Chestnut Avenue runs from Park Road in Teddington down to the Lion Gate at Hampton Court, and the northern entrances are on Park Road and Sandy Lane, with Church Grove Gate on the Hampton Wick side. Those roads carry the housing. Bushy Park Road and Bushy Park Gardens sit just outside the boundary, roughly half a mile from Hampton Wick station.
Period villas mean bigger cookers
The stock rising north onto the London Clay towards the park, on roads like Park Road, Manor Road, Udney Park Road and Watts Lane, is largely the larger Victorian and Edwardian villa end of Teddington, with Victorian cottages further along Bushy Park Road. Bigger houses hold bigger kitchens, and in this pocket that means range cookers and twin cavities more often than a single under a worktop. A double oven is £110 and takes around two hours.
The park has an odd wartime layer
Camp Griffiss stood inside it, code-named Widewing, and Eisenhower planned the D-Day landings from there. A memorial marks the spot where his tent stood, and the SHAEF Gate and Eisenhower House still carry the name. The Upper Lodge Water Gardens, restored with Heritage Lottery Fund money, reopened in October 2009. None of which affects your oven. It does explain the gate names people give us over the phone.

Does anything soak indoors?
No. Racks, shelves, trays and side runners soak in a heated tank in the van, and the cavity, fan cover and glass are hand-degreased with non-caustic products inside.
