The twelve parallel terraced roads here are known locally as the Apostles, and they are not named after the Apostles: they were laid out over a cricket ground of a little over 48 acres that the 1894 Ordnance Survey still recorded as such. Chestnut, Bronson, Sydney and Dupont Roads had houses under way by 1901, Dorien Road followed in 1902, Vernon Road and Edna Road and Prince George's Avenue in 1904, Aston Road and Carlton Park Avenue by 1905, Clifton Park Avenue in 1906, and Gore Road, the last of them, by 1907.
Twelve roads went up on a cricket field
All twelve existed by 1907 but they kept growing southwards to meet Bushey Road once that was cut through, and the estate was finished by about 1920. So the housing is tighter and older than the interwar Blay estates further west.
Terrace kitchens are narrow by design
A late-Victorian or Edwardian terrace of this kind puts the kitchen in a back addition, usually a strip a couple of metres wide with the cooker against one wall and no counter to spare on either side. That is exactly the room where you do not want a bowl of caustic gel and a stack of dripping shelves. Ours go out to the heated tank in the van instead. A built-under single is £77 and a double is £110, and the price is quoted on the phone before anyone turns up.
SW20 on one side, SM4 on the other
Merton runs the lot, but the ground slides into Morden addresses at the Martin Way end, which is where the SM4 postcodes start. That corner has its own history: Bakers End Farm came down in 1920 and a council estate went up on its fields around Whatley Avenue and the north-western arm of Martin Way, with another 100 council homes added in Cannon Hill Lane in 1926. Bushey Road itself is the A298, a 1920s dual-carriageway spur off the Kingston Bypass. Neither postcode carries a surcharge and there is no call-out fee inside the South Circular.

They are narrow and parked up, so we plan for that. It does not change the price.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
