The New River crosses Salmon's Brook at Bush Hill, and for most of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries it did so inside the Bush Hill Frame, a caulked timber aqueduct later lined with lead, which was finally taken out in 1786 and replaced with the earth embankment the water still runs along today. Elsewhere around Bush Hill Road and the Green the kerb is still mostly open, though Grovelands Park, which the council bought part of in 1913, pulls cars in at weekends. We deal with the parking.
