Almshouses on London Road
At the north end of the High Street, where it becomes London Road, stand the town's almshouses. Bromley College is a Grade I listed group of 17th-century almshouses arranged around two courtyards with a chapel. A tablet on the building records that John Warner, Bishop of Rochester, gave it in 1666 for twenty clergymen's widows. Sheppard's College beside it is a Victorian residential block, listed Grade II.
Queen's Road, a street from before the Glades
The Glades shopping centre was finished in 1991, and the Kentish Way bypass came in the early 1990s; to make room for them many houses, churches and streets were demolished. Queen's Road, between the Glades and Kentish Way, survives from the older town, with pairs of two-storey red-brick Victorian houses with canted bay windows.
A Victorian semi of that size often has its kitchen at the back, with a built-in oven under the worktop or a freestanding cooker. A flat in a newer block often has an integrated single or double. All of them are cleaned the same way.

Bromley's town-centre zone A follows its own rules. A zone A permit is only sold together with zone B or C, permit holders may not use the designated bays between 9.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday, and zone A residents can buy visitor vouchers for zones B and C only.
