Broadwater Farm was built by Haringey between 1967 and 1973 on former allotment land in the West Green ward, the first families moving in during 1970 and the last, into a small run of terraced housing, in 1973. The Moselle Brook runs under the site in a culvert, and that flood risk is why the main buildings sit raised on piloti. Concrete legs, open ground underneath.
What the estate is made of
The layout is loosely Corbusian: two 19-storey point blocks holding 204 dwellings, eight 7-storey linear blocks holding 808, plus low-rise terraced housing, 1,063 homes in all, linked by raised walkways. It went up in the Larsen-Nielsen large panel system, and when Ronan Point collapsed in May 1968 with the point blocks still under construction, work stopped for several months while a strengthened version was adopted. The part that matters to an oven cleaner is plain. Flats mean lifts, decks and a carry, and a fitted single oven is £77 on our price list whichever block it is in.
The estate is being rebuilt around the older blocks
Surveys in 2018 found Tangmere and Northolt at risk of progressive collapse and both were put down for demolition; Rochford and Martlesham are being refurbished instead. Haringey is building 302 new council homes at council rents, 30 per cent of them three and four bedroom, the first phase started on the former Moselle School site in February 2025 and the Northolt site due to begin May 2028 and finish June 2031. New kitchens and old ones, sometimes on the same walkway.
Why nothing caustic comes indoors
Racks, shelves, trays and side runners come out, go down to the van and soak in the heated tank there. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand with non-caustic products, which counts for more in a flat than a house: no smell left in a hallway other people use.

Is there a surcharge for an upper floor?
No. Parts travelling to the van and back is how the job works, so the floor you live on does not change what you pay.
How long does it take?
About ninety minutes for a single oven and nearer two hours for a double at £110. It is heat-tested and signed off before we leave.
Do I need to be in?
Someone has to let us in and be there for the heat-test. Everyone who turns up is insured and DBS-checked, and there is no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular.
Said after the sign-off
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
