Brixton splits neatly for us. There are the estate flats, the Loughborough blocks built in the mid-1950s, Angell Town, Somerleyton and Moorlands, where the kitchen is tight and the oven is a built-in single under the counter. Then there are the grand old terraces. Brixton was a wealthy suburb before the last century turned, so streets like the Angell Town villas went up in the 1850s as heavy Italianate houses, and the ones since done up by incomers hold full-size double ovens and the odd range.
Estates and terraces
Those two housing types want different handling. A built-in single oven in an estate flat is a ninety-minute job; a double in a converted villa near Brockwell Park runs closer to two hours. We clean both the same way and charge by the appliance, not the postcode.

- A full clean to inventory standard when a tenant leaves, so the oven passes the check-out report and the deposit is not held.
How the clean works
The removable parts come out and soak in the tank in the van while the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand with non-caustic products. The door is split where the design allows, so the film between the glass comes off too, and the oven is heat-tested before we leave. Nothing caustic is used inside, so the flat is fine to cook in that evening.
Rentals and move-outs
Brixton churns tenants, and a filthy oven is a classic reason a deposit gets held back at check-out. If you are handing keys to a letting agent, the oven has to match the inventory photos, and a proper clean is cheaper than an argument over the deposit. Parking near the market
Parking is a genuine part of the day here. The streets up Brixton Hill fall inside a controlled parking zone, and the whole area sits within the London-wide ULEZ. Around the market and the town-centre estates the van often parks a little way off. That is fine. The parts travel to the tank and back regardless of where we stop.
