Brentford End is the part of Brentford lying west of the River Brent, and Syon Park takes up a large share of it, so the kitchens sit in a fairly narrow band along London Road and up towards Syon Lane. It is Hounslow now. Before the borough existed it was Heston and Isleworth, in Middlesex.
The Golden Mile turned factories into flats
The Great West Road was cut in 1925 to bypass the congestion on Brentford High Street, and the art deco factories followed it: Firestone in 1928, Gillette in 1936-37. Wallis House, Grade II listed, is now the centre of the Great West Quarter, a scheme of around 900 homes, with an application in for roughly 2,300 more at 980 Great West Road, the old GSK headquarters. Flats of that kind come with an integrated single oven and a recirculating hood over the hob, which means the hood filter takes all the grease and nobody thinks to look at it until the kitchen starts smelling of last month's cooking.

The A4 is no use to us
The Great West Road is a dual carriageway and nothing stops on it, so every job here gets worked from the side streets off London Road or Syon Lane. That matters more than it sounds. Racks, shelves, trays and side runners are carried out to the heated tank in the van and carried back again, so the walk is part of the job. Hounslow runs the permit zones here.
Do you clean the hood as well as the oven?
Yes, £28 for an extractor hood. On the Great West Quarter flats it is worth doing at the same visit, because a recirculating hood has nowhere to send the grease except back into the filter.
Will there be a chemical smell afterwards?
No. The caustic side of it stays in the tank in the van. Indoors we work by hand with non-caustic products on the cavity, the fan cover and the door glass, then heat-test the oven.
Do you charge more out here?

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
