The Welsh Harp is a reservoir rather than a district, 68.6 hectares of it, dug between 1834 and 1835 by the contractor William Hoof, who dammed the River Brent under an 1819 act of Parliament to water the Regent's Canal at Paddington. The homes are on its shores. It straddles the Brent and Barnet boundary, belongs to the Canal and River Trust, and was notified a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in 1985. West Hendon, Neasden, Kingsbury Green and Cricklewood are where people live.
Hendon Waterside reset the stock on the Barnet shore
Barnet granted outline permission on 1 July 2008 to regenerate the 1960s West Hendon estate, and what has risen in its place is Hendon Waterside, over 2,000 homes by Barratt Metropolitan LLP on roads like Moorhen Drive. New flats of that kind normally come with an integrated oven and a recirculating extractor hood rather than one ducted outside, and a hood pushing air back into the room loads its filter with grease instead. A hood is £28. The oven beside it is £77 as a single, £110 as a double.
Cool Oak Lane is a single-lane crossing
The bridge carrying Cool Oak Lane over the northern arm of the reservoir works on traffic lights and a weight restriction, so crossing between the Barnet and Brent shores takes longer than the map suggests. The way in is off West Hendon Broadway. Barnet marks its West Hendon bays WHZ and runs Saturday controls from 8am to 2pm. Give us the road name and we will come at it from the right side.
The tank travels, the smell does not

It depends which bank you are on. The Hendon side reads NW9 and the Cricklewood side NW2, with Neasden running into NW10 further round.

Yes. Brent Reservoir is the formal name, the Welsh Harp is what people say. Same 170 acres of water.
