St Clement's, at 2a Bow Road, opened in 1849 as the City of London Union Workhouse, became an infirmary in 1874 and was a psychiatric hospital from 1936. From 2017 its listed blocks, and the new buildings put up around them, became homes.

The redevelopment put 252 homes on the site, 73 of them inside the refurbished hospital buildings, where the restoration uncovered original brick archways, vaulted ceilings and grand staircases. Twenty-three belong to London Community Land Trust, whose prices are linked to local salaries and stay affordable at resale. It was London's first community land trust site, and the first families moved in during 2017. The site sits next to Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park.
