Bounds Green station opened in September 1932 on the corner of Bounds Green Road and Brownlow Road, and its octagonal ticket hall in red and brown brick was listed at Grade II in January 2010.
House building started earlier. The Hornsey Historical Society says residential development was encouraged by the opening of Bowes Park station in 1880 and New Southgate station in 1859, yet it still calls Bounds Green a rural hamlet at the start of the 20th century. At the 2021 Census, 43.5% of the 4,095 households in Haringey's Bounds Green ward lived in a purpose-built block of flats and another 17.8% in a flat or bedsit inside a converted house. Only 20.4% had a terraced house of their own. The council estates account for much of that. On the council's 2020 list of estate parking schemes the ward has Finsbury House and Newbury House on Partridge Way, John Keats House and Thomas Hardy House under the Commerce Road scheme (each block numbered 1 to 85), and Park Court on Tredegar Road in N11. In April 2025 the council unveiled Aaron Gayle Court, nine storeys and 23 council homes, at the junction of Partridge Way and Trinity Road.
A flat in a block like these usually has a built-in single oven or a freestanding cooker, with a lift or a stairwell between the kitchen and the street. The method stays the same. Racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately; the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand in the kitchen, after dust sheets go down.

Three sets of parking hours in one ward
Queens Road and Eleanor Road, just east of the station, are in Haringey's Bounds Green CPZ, which is controlled from 10am to 12 noon on weekdays and free outside those two hours. The ward also runs south to Trinity Road, and Partridge Way sits in the Wood Green Outer Zone, controlled Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6.30pm. Truro Road, Clarence Road and Nightingale Road, east of the station, are in the Bounds Green East zone, controlled Monday to Friday from 11am to 1pm (all three sets of hours are from the council's list of zone hours). Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
