Boston Manor House carries the date 1623 on its great chamber ceiling, beside the initials of Lady Mary Reade, who built the core of the house. The Clitherow family bought the estate in 1670 and held it for seven generations; in 1923 Colonel Stracey Clitherow sold the house and 50 acres to Brentford Urban District Council, and the park opened to the public on 11 September 1924.
A station on the borough line
Boston Manor station opened on 1 May 1883 as Boston Road and took its present name on 11 December 1911. Charles Holden rebuilt it between 1932 and 1934, and it was listed Grade II in 2002. It stands on Boston Manor Road where the London Boroughs of Hounslow and Ealing meet: the house, the park and the streets just south are Hounslow, with TW8 postcodes, and Cawdor Crescent and Boston Parade to the north are Ealing, mostly W7.
Hounslow's appraisal of the Grand Union Canal and Boston Manor conservation area, designated in July 2001, describes the area east of the conservation area as mostly early interwar ribbon development: estates of two-storey semi-detached and terraced houses. Clitherow Avenue on the Ealing side shares the old owners' name, and Clitherow Lock on the canal below the park is named after them; the M4 was carved into the bottom of the grounds in the 1960s.

In an interwar semi or terrace the kitchen may have been refitted or extended since, and may hold a double oven or a range. The method is the same whatever the cooker. Dust sheets go down, the racks, trays, side runners and fan cover come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the cavity and door glass are degreased by hand in the kitchen. The door is split where its design allows.

Parking zones either side of the station
On Hounslow's map, Boston Manor Road and Boston Gardens (TW8) are in the Boston Manor zone, controlled 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Ealing's zone GG, Boston Manor, which takes in Cawdor Crescent, Boston Parade, Boston Vale, Wellmeadow Road and part of Clitherow Avenue, is controlled for just two hours a day: 10am to 11am and 2pm to 3pm, Monday to Friday. Weekends fall outside both zones, and a weekend visit costs the weekday price. Both councils say the street signs decide.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
I would certainly recommend this service, very efficient and good value for money. The young man did a great job and even cleaned the kitchen floor. Thank you.
