Oven cleaning around Blackfriars and Carter Lane in EC4, seven days a week, with a single oven at £77 and no premium for a City postcode.
Blackfriars is the only station in London whose platforms span the Thames, with the north entrance on Queen Victoria Street and a second one across the water on Blackfriars Road. Almost none of our work is at the station end. It sits behind it, in Castle Baynard ward, on the lanes running up towards St Paul's.
Carter Lane and the courts off it
Carter Lane falls inside the St Paul's Cathedral Conservation Area and narrows to a car-free width at its western end, past the Grade II listed houses at 79 and 81. The flats are in blocks like Priory House and the residential half of the late-1990s rebuild at 77 Carter Lane, with Temple House and Victoria House over in the Whitefriars streets and riverside one-beds on the Upper Thames Street side. Period frontage, modern kitchen. The oven behind the door is nearly always an integrated single with a fan cover and a door that comes apart, which is the straightforward half of the call. The other half is the recirculating hoods in the Priory House kitchens, where the charcoal filter has usually never been changed.
Access, not dirt, is the constraint
Blackfriars Underpass is part of the A3211 red route, no stopping at any time. The alleys off Carter Lane, Carter Court among them, take no vehicle at all. So the tank stays in the van on a meter up on Ludgate Hill or Queen Victoria Street and the racks, shelves, trays and side runners are carried in by hand, which adds ten minutes each way and is why we ask for a real description of the access when you book rather than a postcode on its own. EC4V is the one postcode where we carry parts more often than we wheel them.

Things people ask before booking
Is Blackfriars inside your no call-out fee area?
Yes. EC4 sits well inside both the North and South Circular, so the figure quoted on the phone is the whole price.
How long does a single oven take?
About ninety minutes, a bit longer when the carry from the van is a long one. A double is nearer two hours. The oven is heat-tested and signed off before we go.
Do you work weekends around here?
Seven days. Saturday mornings are easiest for parking on Queen Victoria Street, and most Blackfriars residents are out all week anyway.

Reviews from our rounds
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Brilliant clean, my oven looks like brand new. A 5 star clean.
Once again a great job guys, I will see you in a couple of months.
