A ward with almost no residents
At the 2011 census the Bishopsgate ward had 222 residents, against tens of thousands of people who come in to work each day, and that number tells you what the oven work here is. What kitchens there are sit in the gaps. Corporate lets drive the calls
Almost every flat we clean in EC2M and EC2A is rented, and a good share of them are company lets tied to a job at one of the banks or law firms a few minutes' walk away, which means the tenancy ends when the posting ends and the check-out clean gets booked at short notice by someone who is already half packed. Two years is a long tenancy round here. Some of the same flats we clean every eighteen months.
The van and the kerb
Bishopsgate itself is no good to us. In the City all parking is in marked bays, and loading in a bay is capped at 20 minutes during controlled hours, which is nowhere near a ninety-minute oven. Our technician takes a paid bay on a side street off Middlesex Street or Artillery Lane and works from there.

Do you charge a City of London premium?
No. The price is fixed on the phone and it is the same as anywhere else we cover.
Can you get in past a building concierge?
Usually, if you tell the desk we are coming. Our technicians are DBS-checked and insured, and buildings that ask for the certificate get it.
How long does a check-out clean take?
About ninety minutes for a single oven. Add a hob and you are looking at closer to two.
Will the flat smell afterwards?
No. Nothing caustic is opened indoors, which is the point of keeping the tank in the van.
Said after the sign-off
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
