Most of our Bermondsey work is flats, not houses. Up by the river the old warehouses at Shad Thames and Butler's Wharf were converted into apartments in the 1980s and 90s, and the newer blocks near Bermondsey station and along Grange Road, Alaska Buildings among them, come with an integrated single oven under the worktop. That is the appliance we meet most here. The kitchen is usually open-plan, part of the living space, so a smell-free clean is the whole point.
Warehouse flats and new-builds
The converted wharves kept their brick, their beams and their winches, and behind that character sits a modern fitted kitchen with a built-in oven. The new developments off Bermondsey Street and Grange Road run the same layout, an open-plan room with a single integrated oven and a hob. Because the cooker sits feet from the sofa, the way we handle the cavity matters more here than the parts do. Our single oven cleaning is the job that comes up again and again on these floors.
Why there is no smell after
The racks, trays, shelves and side runners lift out and soak in a heated tank in the van. The cavity, the fan cover and the door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, which is exactly why an open-plan warehouse flat does not end up smelling of chemicals, and why you can use the kitchen straight away. The door is split where the design allows, to reach between the panes, and the oven is heat-tested before we go.
Parking by the river
Parking is a genuine part of the visit down here. The streets around Shad Thames and Bermondsey Street are tight, controlled parking covers the area, and the whole of SE1 sits inside the London-wide ULEZ, so the van often ends up a short walk from the block. On a Friday the Bermondsey Antiques Market fills Bermondsey Square, and Maltby Street draws a crowd at weekends. None of it changes the clean. The parts travel to the tank and back regardless of where the van parks.
Move-outs and rentals
Bermondsey lets heavily, and the flats turn over, so a steady run of our work is check-out cleans where the oven has to match the inventory before the deposit is returned. Letting agents cover the area well, Oliver Jaques among the local names, and a greasy integrated oven is a common sticking point on a move-out. We clean it to check-out standard and work seven days to hit the key date.

Questions
Will my open-plan warehouse flat smell of chemicals after?
No. The parts soak in the van and the cavity is hand-cleaned with non-caustic products, so an open-plan room is fine to use straight away.
Do you clean integrated single ovens in the new-builds?
Yes, that is our most common Bermondsey job. A single integrated oven is £77, with the racks, cavity and door glass all done.
Can you park near Shad Thames?
Usually near enough. The streets are tight, so if the bays are full we park close and carry the parts, which does not change the clean or the price.
Do you handle move-out cleans for letting agents?
Yes. We clean the oven to inventory standard so it passes the check-out report, at short notice where we can.
