All Saints, the flint church on its built-up platform at the foot of Angel Hill, went up between 1863 and 1866 to designs by S. S. Teulon. It has been listed at Grade II* since 1953, and the parish of Benhilton was created around it in 1863.
Thomas Alcock's estate on Benhill
The name comes from Benhill Farm, once the largest farm in Sutton. Thomas Alcock, the lord of the manor, gave the money and the land for the church, meant to serve an estate of upper-class houses he was laying out, and building moved fast: by 1868 there were some 29 large residences where in the 1840s there had been two farms and a few cottages. The turnpike trustees had the road cut down through Angel Hill in the 1770s, and in 1823 William Cobbett wrote: "They have lowered a little hill on the London side of Sutton."
Not all of the Victorian estate survived. Benhill House, the biggest villa, on the high ground between Benhill Road and Oakhill Road, was pulled down in the 1930s and replaced by the smaller houses of Benfleet Close. Two detached houses of the 1870s on All Saints Road and Benhill Road, either side of Grennell Road, are probably the oldest left. Trams ran along Benhill Avenue from 1906 and trolleybuses until 1959; the width of the streets on Benhilton's edge is the only trace left.

Terraces, flats and lets round Benhill Road
The 2021 Census area round Benhill Road, Lavender Road and Parkhurst Road (Sutton 013C) had 751 households. 41.7% lived in a terraced house, 26.0% in a purpose-built flat and 8.7% in a flat made from a converted house. 59.3% owned their home, 27.7% rented privately and 12.3% rented from the council or a housing association. A flat cut out of a tall Victorian house often has a modest kitchen up a flight of stairs.
Letting agents can have the invoice addressed to the agency, photos for the checkout file on request, and keys for an empty flat picked up by arrangement.
- Top oven
- The smaller upper compartment of a double oven, usually with the grill element in its roof. Fat spits up from the grill pan, so the roof and door glass of the top oven are often the dirtiest part of a double, which takes about 2 hours in all.

Sutton's parking checker lists Godstone Road, Montpelier Road, Thicket Crescent and part of Benhill Road in it from 30 November 2020, with the Benhill Road area extended on 3 March 2025. Oakhill Road and Thicket Road have been in it since 4 July 1994. Sunday is the one day with no permit hours, at the weekday price. On other days tell us the road and whether you have a visitor permit, and check the sign on the bay.

No. Tell us the floor when you book so the visit can be planned.

Is Sutton Common station close?
It is a short walk west of Angel Hill, and the Sutton Common streets have their own page.

Said after the sign-off
Brilliant clean, my oven looks like brand new. A 5 star clean.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
