The bulk of our Bellingham work sits inside the old London County Council cottage estate, built between 1919 and 1923 on former Bellingham Farm, where the roads radiate out from the hexagonal green. Those interwar terraced cottages nearly all have a freestanding cooker in a small back kitchen, and after a hundred years of gas rings the cavities carry a lot of baked-on grease. Cottage kitchens off the green
These kitchens are tight, so the in-van dip-tank earns its keep here. The racks, shelves, trays and side runners come out and soak in the heated tank down in the van, which frees up the worktop, and the cavity, fan cover and door glass get cleaned by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so there is no chemical smell after and the oven is heat-tested before we go. A single takes about ninety minutes. Where a family knocked two rooms together and fitted a wider cooker, or where a later flat conversion added an integrated single, the method does not change.
Randlesdown Road is the parade we usually park near, opposite the Fellowship Inn by the station. That Grade II pub dates to 1923 and went up with the estate.

Getting to the door
Parking on the estate is mostly kerbside and rarely a problem, though Lewisham has been consulting on new controlled zones across Bellingham, so if a permit street is due to start near you it helps to say so when you book. Bellingham sits inside the London-wide ULEZ and our vans meet the standard. Trains from Bellingham station run on the Catford Loop toward Kentish Town and toward Sevenoaks, and we work seven days.
