Bassishaw is the smallest of the twenty-five City wards
Basinghall Street runs through nearly all of it, with the southern end tipping into Cheap and Coleman Street, and the ward takes its name from the Basing family, whose hall house stood here after Henry III granted Adam de Basing property in Aldermanbury and Milk Street. The Guildhall is in this ward, with the Guildhall Art Gallery and the Guildhall Library. There is almost no housing.
Girdlers' Hall on Basinghall Avenue has been rebuilt twice over. The fifteenth-century hall burned in 1666, its 1681 replacement was wrecked in 1940, and the building there now was only finished in 1961. Coopers' Hall, built 1522, went the same way on 29 December 1940. Masons' Hall dated from 1463 and its street, Mason's Avenue, is still the ward's southern edge.

Add an extractor hood clean at £28 and we do it while the racks are still soaking. The tank lives in the van. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, and the oven is heat-tested before we sign it off.
Parking near the Guildhall is a pay-by-phone job
Guildhall Yard is not somewhere you leave a van. City bays are booked through RingGo with a four-hour cap, and the Corporation warns that any QR code stuck up in a parking bay is a scam, since it does not use them. We sort that out before we arrive.
