The Becontree factor
Most of our Barking and Dagenham work sits on the Becontree estate, the four-square-mile interwar cottage estate across Dagenham, Becontree and Chadwell Heath, built by the London County Council between 1921 and 1935. Around two-thirds of the houses have since sold under Right to Buy and been reworked, so the original sculleries are gone and the kitchen now holds a freestanding cooker or a built-in with a separate hob.
A 1930s terrace off Green Lane or Valence Avenue usually has a freestanding gas cooker, single cavity and grill. The racks and pan support lift out to the tank in the van, and we degrease the cavity, inner door glass and burner surround by hand with non-caustic products, so there is no chemical smell left in a small Dagenham kitchen.
No two ovens on the same Becontree road are quite the same now.
New builds by the river
The other half of the borough is the newer flats. Barking Riverside, the L and Q and Bellway regeneration on the old power-station land off Renwick Road, is putting thousands of homes up at IG11, and the units come with an integrated single oven, induction or ceramic hob and a built-in hood. The Overground reached its station in 2022.
Integrated single ovens are the bread and butter here. The door splits where the design allows, so we reach the back glass, and the hob and hood go in the same visit. On these flats the single oven clean at Barking Riverside is the usual booking.
Parking and the van
Parking matters because the racks ride to the heated tank and back. The council added four new Controlled Parking Zones across over a hundred roads from July this year, on top of older zones near the town centre and East Street market. The Becontree streets are wide, so we get close. Nearer Barking station, around Longbridge Road and Abbey Road, it is tighter, so tell us the road when you book.

Prices are fixed on the phone with no premium-area surcharge, so a house on Becontree pays the same as anywhere else. The 90cm range rate covers the wider Rangemaster and Stoves models in the extended estate kitchens. Two-oven AGAs are rare out here.
End of tenancy work
Rental churn is high. Chadwell Heath and Dagenham have a dense band of letting agents along the High Road and the Heathway, so end-of-tenancy oven cleans stay steady all year. A landlord or outgoing tenant wants the oven heat-tested and signed off before check-out.

Will there be a smell after you clean the oven?
No. The cavity and door glass are degreased by hand with non-caustic products, so no caustic fume is left behind.
Can you do the hob and hood at the same time?
Yes. On the newer flats most bookings are the single oven with the hob and built-in extractor in one visit. The hob is £23 to 28 and the hood is £28.
How long does a clean take?
A single oven is about ninety minutes and a double closer to two hours. Range cookers and AGAs take a little longer.
