EC2R is an office postcode. The Bank of England has stood on Threadneedle Street since 1734, and the streets around it, Lothbury, Tokenhouse Yard, Bartholomew Lane, Throgmorton Street, Copthall Avenue, are banks, chambers and serviced offices with almost no households on them. Some EC2R postcodes register zero residents at all. The domestic kitchens that do exist here are upper floors above shops, a few conversions, and short corporate lets taken by people working two streets away.
A van cannot cross Bank on a weekday
Bank junction has been restricted to buses and pedal cycles between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday, since the safety scheme started in May 2017; the City Corporation later made it permanent, and from July 2025 black cabs were let back through Poultry to Cornhill on trial. Vans were not. So a dip-tank van working the Threadneedle Street side comes round from Moorgate or Lothbury instead of straight across the junction. It adds a few minutes. It does not add anything to the price.

Corporate lets and converted upper floors run to one integrated single oven and a compact hob, rarely more. A dip-tank oven clean starts at £77 for a single and takes about ninety minutes. Racks, shelves, trays and side runners soak in the heated tank in the van. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so there is nothing to air out afterwards, which matters in a flat with sealed windows over a street that never quietens down.

Same figures for EC2R as anywhere else. There is no free on-street parking in the Square Mile, bays are RingGo with a four-hour cap, and the Congestion Charge is £18 a day on top of the ULEZ. That is our problem, not yours. No call-out fee inside the North and South Circular.

It is heat-tested and signed off before we leave. If a door was split to reach the inner glass, it goes back together first.
