Cornhill ward had roughly seven households and about eleven residents at the 2011 census. That is not a typo. Bank is offices, and anyone selling it to you as a residential neighbourhood has not stood at the junction on a Tuesday morning.
Where the flats actually are
What we clean here is upper floors. Flats over the shops along Cornhill and Lombard Street, a few conversions off Threadneedle Street, and serviced or company-let flats taken by people working two streets from their own kitchen. They are small and they are integrated: one 60cm single oven, a four-zone hob, a hood that recirculates because there is no outside wall to vent through. A dip-tank oven clean is £77 for the single and £110 if someone has fitted a double.
The junction is the whole problem
Bank junction has been buses and cycles only on weekdays between 07:00 and 19:00 since May 2017. Licensed taxis were let back through east to west, between Poultry and Cornhill, under an experimental order from 28 July 2025, with a decision due in autumn 2026. None of that helps a van.
- Before 07:00 or after 19:00 the junction opens up again.
- Sunday is the easy day.
- On a weekday morning we park out past Lothbury and walk the kit in, which is fine for one single oven and slow for anything bigger.
All of it is inside the Congestion Charge zone and the ULEZ. We pay both and it stays off your bill.

Who rings us at Bank
Mostly agents and short-let operators, because a flat at Bank changes hands far more often than a flat in a suburb ever would, and the tenant is usually here on a posting of a year or two rather than for a life. So the oven gets cleaned between lets rather than once a year.
Can you come outside the junction hours?
Yes, and it is often the sensible booking. We work seven days, so an early slot or a Sunday puts the van much closer to your door than a Wednesday lunchtime ever will.
Will there be a smell afterwards?
No. Racks, trays and side runners soak in the heated tank in the van, and the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products.
Is there a surcharge for the City?
No. The price is fixed on the phone, and there is no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular.
