All Saints DLR station opened on 31 August 1987 on East India Dock Road, which was built in 1806-12 to link the City with the new East India Docks. The station shares its name with the parish church on the south side of the road.
Terraces round the churchyard
An Act of 1813 started the move to give Poplar its own parish, and two acres between Poplar High Street and East India Dock Road were bought from Ann Newby for a church. Charles Hollis won the design competition; the church was built in 1821-23 and Hollis also designed the rectory on Newby Place. The plots along the south side of the churchyard, on Mountague Place, were sold in 1823 and 1826, and the council's 2007 appraisal of the All Saints conservation area counts eight of those terraced houses still standing, three or four storeys over a basement. A covenant on the sale kept a 6ft strip in front of each house free of anything but railings and steps, which helps the row read as one group. Round the corner, the four houses of the Bazely Street terrace went up in 1845, and the appraisal finds them in remarkably original condition. A V2 rocket hit the north end of Bazely Street in March 1945.
In a late Georgian house with a basement, the kitchen may well be downstairs, and a house of that size may have room for a 90cm range. Neither changes the method. The racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand in the kitchen, over dust sheets.
Flats on both sides of East India Dock Road
The terraces are the exception. In the Census output area round Mountague Place (105 households in 2021), only 12.5% of households had a terraced house; 76.0% lived in a purpose-built block of flats and 41.9% rented from the council. Discovery House, built in 1961-3, was left out of the conservation area; the appraisal says its long setback and layout of dwellings do not suit the area. North of the church, the appraisal describes East India Dock Road as shops at street level with flats above, and on the far side Chrisp Street Market faces the station. Poplar HARCA's project page says the market's rebuilding is delayed while a new planning application is prepared, with the Festival of Britain clock tower to be restored.

Parking zones B and D meet on East India Dock Road
On the council's parking map, East India Dock Road divides two zones here. The streets round the church, to the south, are in zone D, controlled from 8.30am to 5.30pm on weekdays. North of the road, the Chrisp Street Market part of zone B3 is controlled on Saturdays as well, 8.30am to 5.30pm, according to the council's zone page. On a Sunday neither is controlled.
