Louis Bleriot opened an aircraft factory on Station Road in 1917 and several hundred aeroplanes went out of it to Brooklands to be finished. Weymann took the site over later and built buses on it, including the prototype AEC Routemaster. It was derelict by 2000 and is now the Aviator business park.

Addlestone is the administrative centre of Runnymede and the borough's largest settlement, with 15,883 people in the built-up area at the 2011 census, and the stock runs from Victorian through interwar to the new blocks; Row Town, on the southern side, is 86% owner-occupied. Older houses are likelier to hold a free-standing cooker or a 90cm range, newer flats an integrated single. The oldest thing in town beats all of it: the Crouch Oak, thought to date from the 11th century.
Getting to you, and what it costs
Addlestone station runs to Waterloo and Guildford, and junction 11 of the M25 is on the doorstep, so the van comes in by road with its tank aboard. Price is fixed on the phone. I am in a flat above the shops. Is that a problem?
No. The racks, shelves, trays and side runners come down to the tank in the van and go back up clean, so the flat never holds a soaking tray.
Will the kitchen smell of chemicals afterwards?
It should not. The soaking happens outside. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are done by hand indoors with non-caustic products.
Is this good enough for a letting agent's inventory check?
Yes. The door glass is split where the design allows, which is what a clerk inspects, and the oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave.
Can you do the hob and the hood at the same visit?
Yes, and it is cheaper than a second trip. The hob is £23–28 depending on type and the extractor hood is £28.
