The estate the railway built for its own drivers
Acton Main Line, West Acton and North Acton stand around a large area of family housing that the Great Western Railway developed in the 1920s for its staff, many of them drivers working out of the Old Oak Common depot, with the A40 closing the fourth side. The Great Western (London) Garden Village Society, a co-operative, built 115 houses and shops between 1924 and 1931 just east of West Acton station, let to railwaymen who held shares in it. My kitchen is the back room of a converted terrace. Will the products make the flat smell?
It should not. The tank work happens in the van, never in your kitchen. Indoors we use non-caustic products by hand, and the oven is heat-tested and signed off before we go.
How do I tell a double from two singles?
Count the cavities, not the doors. Two cavities behind one tall door front is a double at £110. Two separate appliances in a tall housing unit are two singles, and we will say which on the phone if you describe the front.
